A pensive and steely scene, familiar to any of us who know Scotland on a day like that portrayed here by Erin Scrutton. In slate tones with hints of kelp green, she still captures warmer mauves and olivey mosses on the shoreline as the great waters sweep in (or is out?). The light on the surface of the water captured beautifully and hints at the sunlight behind those clouds. This work is both frothing and chaotic, yet almost sombre and once again this moment of change, the trademark of her landscape works, gives rest to noise.
